Breaking the Rules of Storytelling

Breaking the Rules of Storytelling

That was the theme of my talk to the DLDWomen conference in Munich last Wednesday, and I’m happy to present the link here. It cuts out briefly midway through, during the clip from ‘I Can’t Think Straight’ but carries on, so please bear with it. And let me know what you think!

I’m soooo glad you are a REBEL and broke the rules (except the one of sleeping with the producer, of course!!).  I can’t imagine a world without TWU or ICTS.  I am thankful your integrity and rebellious nature carried these stories (as you envision them) to fruition!

This talk at DLDWomen, much like the “Why Art Matters” at an earlier conference, was concise, well illustrated with examples, and had just the right amount of Shamim humor.  (By the way, I miss those humorous blog entries; but I know you have a lot on your plate now so I’ll be patient!)

Thanks for sharing and continually inspiring others!

Thank you so much for this clip and your speech. So very interesting and inspiring. Honestly, I have high expectations for “Despite the falling snow”, which I’ve not read yet, but will get to read soon, because “The World Unseen” and “I Can’t Think Straight” are two of my all-time favourite movies and books.
I am working on my own story and try to make my dream come true. I have been able to make part of my dream come true already and it has changed me more than I could have ever imagines. But when it comes to writing, you’re one of my main inspirations.
I wish you continued success and strength and happiness.
